The development actions carried out by Aux 4 Coins du Monde are structured around two complementary types of interventions.
Long-term multi-year programs, such as the “Sicaya dikes” project (1993–2011), mobilize significant resources over time and combine several dimensions: infrastructure construction, farmer training, technical support, and educational activities.
Short-term programs and micro-projects respond to more targeted needs, with punctual interventions that nevertheless have strong local impact.
Ongoing programs
For several years, the association has supported schools and middle schools in the Bolivian Altiplano, one of the most disadvantaged regions in Bolivia.
This support includes:
sending school and educational materials
distributing clothing and backpacks
providing essential equipment
As an example, in 2016, 14 educational units in the Arque region benefited from this support, representing 417 students (including 320 in early education and primary school, and 97 in secondary education).
Monitoring and funding
Projects are monitored and coordinated locally by our permanent representative in Bolivia, Juan Ordoñez, who is responsible for implementing activities and leading specific initiatives such as farmer training.
Funding comes from several complementary sources:
the annual allocation of results voted at the General Assembly (after taxes)
monthly donations from “socios” (supporters)
all general donations
These resources ensure the continuity and sustainability of the development programs.
Past programs
Over the years, Aux 4 Coins du Monde has carried out numerous projects in Latin America, mainly in Peru and Bolivia.
In Bolivia
Among the main actions, the association supported the rehabilitation of sheep herds in the Pongo region, including the introduction of breeding rams, the construction of enclosures, and vaccination campaigns.
The Sicaya dikes program (Cochabamba), which continued until 2013, was a major long-term initiative. It enabled:
the construction of dikes and the recovery of agricultural land
the improvement and productive use of reclaimed land
technical, economic, and legal training for farmers
This program involved 13 cooperatives in the Río Arque valley and 329 families, representing around 1,845 people. For the K’ara K’ara cooperative alone, 95 hectares were reclaimed and cultivated. On October 30, 2005, the Cuatro Rincones Training Center was inaugurated in K’ara K’ara.
Micro-projects and social initiatives
The association has also developed several high-impact micro-projects:
in Cusco (Peru): the Qosko Maki bakery, a project focused on adolescent training and protection
in Lima: the development of a playground around the “Los Jazmines” neighborhood library
in El Alto (Bolivia): support for the economic and social empowerment of Aymara women through the Amparampi association
Actions in Peru
In Lima, several humanitarian actions have been carried out, including:
three distributions of 25,000 to 50,000 new clothing items provided by the company Mikava
the provision of medical equipment (including radiography devices) and medicines during the cholera epidemic
Other structural projects include:
installation of water tanks in southern Lima (San Juan de la Libertad and San Juan de Miraflores)
construction of a library and a community canteen in the Comas district
Actions in Bolivia
In Bolivia, Aux 4 Coins du Monde collaborated with ORSTOM and CRIN (Center for Immuno-Nutritional Rehabilitation for severely malnourished children).
Support focused on:
care for children (stays, food, healthcare)
medical tests and medication
partial support for the medical staff of the children’s hospital in Cochabamba
In addition, the association contributed to:
the construction and equipment of the “Caousou” health post in Lekepampa
nurse training provided by the Bolivian Red Cross
the creation of the Lekepampa school
the construction or renovation of 7 schools and 2 middle schools in the Bolivian Altiplano, including educational, sports, and classroom equipment
